Raita along with biryani is a complement, without which biryani can not be enjoyed. The ingredients of Biryani raita can be modified as your desire.
Ingredients of Raita for Biryani:
1 1/2 cup yogurt (dahi)
1/2 cucumber (Kheera)
1 medium sized onion, finely chopped
1 medium sized tomato, finely chopped
1/2 t-spoon roasted ground cumin (Jeera)
1/2 t-spoon salt
1 green chilly, finely chopped
1/2 t-spoon kala namak (if not available, then take salt instead)
1/4 t-spoon black pepper (Kali mirch)
10-15 fresh coriander leaves
3/4 cup water
How to make Raita for Biryani:
- Peel the cucumber and chop it into small pieces (cubes).
- Take a medium sized bowl and add yogurt to it. Mash it with a blender or madani until it gets smooth. Add water and remaining ingredients except cucumber, onion, tomato and again mix them well.
- Now add cucumber, onion and tomato to it and mix it again. Refrigerate Biryani Raita for 1/2 hour
- Before serving, garnish Biryani raita with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve chilled.
