Banana Raita Recipe

Banana Raita is also known as Kela ka raita. Banana is a fruit, found everywhere in India. Banana raita is sweet in nature due to the presence of sweet banana and sugar that we are using in our recipe.

Ingredients for Banana raita (Kela ka Raita):

1 cup yogurt (dahi)
1 banana (kela)
1 t-spoon sugar
1 small green chilly, finely chopped
1/2 t-spoon mustard seeds (Raai ka dana)
salt to taste (optional, if you want a sweet raita then don't add salt)
1/4 t-spoon black pepper (Kali mirch)
1/2 cup water


How to make Banana raita (Kela ka Raita):

  • Peel the banana and chop it into small cubes.
  • Take a medium sized bowl and add yogurt to it. Mash it with a blender or madani until it gets smooth. Add water and remaining ingredients except banana cubes and mustard seeds, again mix them well. Now add banana to it and mix it again.
  • Take mustard seeds in a grinder, add a little water to it (2-3 t-spoons) and grind it till it forms a liquid paste. Now add it to Banana raita and mix it well.
  • Refrigerate banana raita for 1/2 hour. Serve chilled
