Ingredients for Dal Shorba :
1/2 cup dhuli Moong Dal (Split Green Gram)
3-4 cloves garlic, crushed (lahsun)
1 table-spoon Lemon Juice
1 table-spoon coriander leaves, finely chopped to garnish (dhaniya patti)
2 table-spoon oil
salt to taste
2 cup water
Herbs and Spices :
1/4 t-spoon Pepper Powder (Kali Mirch)
1/2 t-spoon powdered cumin (jeera)
1/4 t-spoon turmeric powdered (haldi)
How to make Dal Shorba :
- Pressure cook moong dal with 2 cup water, turmeric and a pinch of salt on medium-high flame for about 20 mins. or until Moong Dal gets tender. Using a blender, grind cooked moong dal to a fine paste.
- Now, take a separate large frying pan and heat oil in it over medium flame.
- After a minute add garlic and cumin and stir for 30 seconds. Now, add cooked Dal mixture, pepper powder, lemon juice, 2 cup of water more and salt to the large frying pan and turn the heat to high, stir it well. When it starts boiling, turn the heat to low, cover the pan and cook further for 8-10 mins.
- Serve Dal Shorba hot and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
