Ingredients for Onion Chutney:
2 medium size Onions, chopped (Red onion or normal)
8-10 flakes Garlic (Lahsun)
2 table-spoon chana dal (Bhunji chana dal)
1 table-spoon ginger, grated (adrak)
3-4 whole Red Chillies, stem removed
1/2 t-spoon mustard seeds (Rai ka dana)
8-10 curry leaves (Kadhi patta)
1 table-spoon tamarind pulp (Imli ka guda) (Optional)
2 table-spoon cooking oil
Salt to taste
How to make Onion Chutney:
- Take a medium size pan and heat 1 table-spoon oil in it. After a minute add whole red chillies, garlic, chana dal and chopped onions. Fry on medium heat till onion gets light brown. Turn off the heat.
- Now, grind this fried onion mixture with ginger, tamarind and salt to form a smooth paste.
- Take a small frying pan and heat 1 table-spoon oil in it, add mustard and curry leaves to it, when mustard starts splutter, turn off the heat and pour this mixture to grinned onion chutney.
- Onion chutney is ready to eat. You can serve onion chutney with any type of food you like.
