Coconut along with coriander leaves gives a very delicious flavour in form of Green coconut chutney. It gets its green colour due to the presence of coriander leaves and green chillies. This Green chutney is a North Indian twist to the flavourful south indian chutney recipe.
Ingredients for Green Coconut chutney:
1/2 fresh coconut, grated (Nariyal)
2 green chillies (Hari mirch)
1 small onion (chopped finely)
1/2 cup green coriander leaves (Dhaniya patti)
5-6 cloves garlic (Lasun)
1 clove ginger (Adrak)
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1-2 Dry red chillies
10-15 curry leaves (Kadhi patta)
2 tsp Oil
salt to taste
How to make Green Coconut chutney:
- Grind together grated coconut, green chillies, coriander leaves, garlic, ginger and salt to a fine thick paste. Add little water if required.
- Heat oil and temper mustard seeds, red chillies and chopped onions.
- Pour it over the green chutney and mix well.
- Delicious Green chutney is ready to be served along with Dosa, idli, wada or uttapam. Green chutney can also be served as a complement with Chapati and pulao.
