Grape is a rich source of Sugars and carbohydrates.Grapes can be eaten raw or they can be used for making Grape jam, juice, wine or Sweet and tangy Grape chutney. Grape chutney goes well with all kind of roasted food and non vegetarian food. The mixture of red grape and green grape gives a very different flavour that can only be acquired through Grape chutney. Grap chutney is also known as Angoor ki chutney.
Ingredients for Grape Chutney:
1/2 cup seedless green grapes, cut into four pieces (Angoor)
1/2 cup seedless red grapes, cut into four pieces (if not available then use green grape)
1 onion, chopped
1 clove ginger, grated (Adrak)
1 t-spoon mustard seeds (Rai ka dana)
1 1/2 t-spoon Vinegar (Sirka)
3 t-spoon cooking oil
1/2 t-spoon pepper powder (Kali mirch)
2 table-spoon Sugar
1/2 t-spoon salt
How to make Grape Chutney:
- Take medium size pan and heat oil in it. After 2 mins. turn the heat to medium and add mustard seeds, when it starts splutter add onion to it. Saute onion for about 3-4 mins. stirring frequently.
- Then, add ginger, grapes, vinegar, pepper, reduce the heat to low and let the chutney cook for about 15 mins. Stir occasionally.
- Now add sugar and salt to the chutney and stir again. Continue to cook on low heat until the complete grape water evaporates and it form a thick Grape chutney. Turn off the the heat.
- Grape chutney is ready to eat. Serve hot or let Grape chutney get cool at room temperature.
