Fruit Chutney Recipe

A very healthy chutney recipe is Mixed fruit chutney. It has multiple fruits like apple, pear, plum and also some dry fruits like dates and raisins. The sweet combination of fruits along with vinegar gives a very tangy and sweet flavour.

Ingredients for Mixed fruit Chutney:

1/2 cup dry dates (Khajoor)
2 apples, skin removed, chopped (Sev)
2 pears, skin removed, chopped (Nasapati)
4 Plums, seeds removed (Aloobukara)
1/2 cup Raisins (Kishmish)
2 cloves garlic, crushed (lahsun)
1 t-spoon ground allspice (Garam masala)
1/2 t-spoon mustard seeds, skin removed (rai ki dal)
2 cups Vinegar (sirca)
4 cups sugar
1/2 t-spoon salt

 

How to make Mixed fruit Chutney:

  • Remove the seeds of Dates and chop it. Also chop all the fruits.
  • Take a large frying pan and add all the ingredients including all the fruits. Keep the pan on high flame and bring the mixture to boil. Then, reduce the heat to low and cook until the mixture starts getting thicken. Stir occasionally.
  • Cook until mixture gets thicken and all the liquid gets evaporated. Then, turn off the heat.
  • Transfer Mixed fruit chutney to the air tight glass jar. Give Mixed fruit chutney a week to develop flavour, then serve it.
