Ingredients for Kerala Parippu Curry :
1 cup Moong Dal (Split Green Gram / cherupayar)
1/4 t-spoon turmeric powdered (haldi)
Grind It :
1 t-spoon powdered cumin (jeera)
1/2 cup coconut, grated
2-3 green chillies
For Seasoning :
1 table-spoon coconut oil
1/2 t-spoon mustard seeds
1 red chilly (Khadi Lal Mirch)
12-15 Curry Leaves (Kadhi Patta)
How to make Kerala Parippu Curry :
- Wash Moong Dal 3-4 times with water soak for 15 mins. Now, take a Pressure cooker and add 4 cup water, Moong Dal, turmeric and a pinch of salt, cook it over medium-high flame for about 15 mins. or until Moong Dal gets tender.
- Grind coconut, cumin and green chillies by adding a little water to a fine paste. Put this paste in a cooked dal and mash it properly. Cook Moong dal further for 8-10 minutes on low-medium flame.
- Now, for seasoning, take a small frying pan and heat oil in it over medium flame. Add mustard seeds, red chilly and curry leaves and cook for a minute or two.
- Put this seasoning in a prepared dal and Serve Kerala Parippu Curry hot with rice.
