Kaima Idli Recipe

Ingredients for Kaima Idli :

4-5 Idlis
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 table-spoon ginger garlic paste
1/2 t-spoon red chilli powder
1 t-spoon Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
1/2 t-spoon Cumin powder (Jeera Powder)
4 table-spoon Tomato Sauce
10-15 Coriander leaves, chopped (Dhaniya Patti)

For Coating :
1 cup Maida (All Purpose flour)
1/2 t-spoon red chilli powder
Salt to taste
water in sufficient quantity

 

How to make Kaima Idli :

  • Cut idlis into cubes of equal size.
  • Make a thick batter by combining all the ingredients of "Coating".
  • Dip Each cube of idli in this batter and deep fry them in hot oil till golden and crispy.
  • Now, take a separate pan and heat 2 table-spoon oil in it.
  • Add onions and fry on low-medium flame till light brown.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped tomatoes, fry further on medium flame for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now, add coriander powder, cumin powder and Red chilli powder to the pan. Mix properly the complete mixture.
  • Now add tomato sauce and idli cubes, mix properly everything with soft hands.
  • Cook further on low flame with pan covered with a lid for 4-5 minutes.
  • Turn off the flame and garnish Kaima Idli with chopped coriander leaves.
