Onion tomato chutney is also known as Pyaz tamatar ki Chutney. Tomato gives a rich flavour to onions and after getting fried tomato and garlic gives a very exotic flavour when combined with onions. We are using tomato in it so there is no need to add tamarind to Onion tomato chutney.
Ingredients for Onion Tomato Chutney:
2 medium size Onions, chopped (Pyaz)
1 medium size Tomato, chopped (tamatar)
8-10 flakes Garlic (Lahsun)
1 table-spoon ginger, grated (adrak)
3-4 whole Green Chillies
1/2 t-spoon mustard seeds (Rai ka dana)
8-10 curry leaves (Kadhi patta)
2 table-spoon cooking oil
Salt to taste
How to make Onion Tomato Chutney:
- Take a medium size pan and heat 1 table-spoon oil in it. After a minute add garlic and chopped onions. Fry on medium heat till onion gets light brown.Then, add chopped tomato, fry for a minute or two. Then, turn off the heat.
- Now, grind this fried onion tomato mixture with ginger, green chili and salt to form a smooth paste.
- Take a small frying pan and heat 1 table-spoon oil in it, add mustard and curry leaves to it, when mustard starts splutter, turn off the heat and pour this mixture to grinned onion tomato chutney.
- Onion tomato chutney is ready to eat. You can serve onion tomato chutney with any snack or roti sabzi, pulao or biryani.
